| opmerkingen | 3-7 January, Brielse Gatdam, Westplaat, Westvoorne, Zuid-Holland, photographed, videoed (E H Eijkelenboom, E V Eijkelenboom et al; Ebels et al 1997, Eijkelenboom & Eijkelenboom 1997; Dutch Birding 19: 43, plate 45, 223, plate 227-228, 1997). These three birds were already accepted as S undata. The subspecific identification was largely based on plumage differences explained by Constantine et al (2012). Assessment was somewhat hampered by the fact that at least some nominate S u undata seem to show brownish upperparts (eg, in parts of Italy; www.pbase.com/dophoto/magnanina). Still, based on current knowledge, the CDNA decided that identification as S u dartfordiensis was justified. A fourth record identified as this subspecies (Westkapelle, Zeeland, on 2-7 November 2013) was already mentioned in Haas et al (2014). Annual Report 2014. | |
