opmerkingen 24-25 April, Delden, Hof van Twente, Overijssel, first-year (via U Sellis). This Greater Spotted Eagle (named 'Tõnn') had been tagged with a GPS transmitter (and colour-ringed with a white ring with inscription 7F) as a chick on the nest in western Estonia in August 2008 (www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/2402). In autumn 2008, it had been followed through Germany and France into Spain where it wintered at El Hondo reservoir, Alicante, until 13 April 2009 (Reeber et al 2009, Der Falke 56: 34-35, 2009). On its return migration, it roosted overnight near Delden without actually being seen by anyone, entering the Netherlands at 16:30 and leaving it again at 09:00 (Dutch Bird ing 31: 53, 191, 373, 2009). This is the first rarity to be accepted by the CDNA based on a GPS reading alone. Annual Report 2009.
