opmerkingen	collected, in collection of Naturalis Biodiversity Center, Leiden ZH, photographed (Dutch Birding 46: 136, plate 198, 2024). There was no doubt about identification, age and sex, yet status was discussed as it was found dead (crashed) in a busy seaport. Dissection of the bird in Naturalis Biodiversity Center revealed that the bird had an empty stomach except for some pebbles. Since there are few (mainly winter) records in northern Europe, the CDNA researched the origin of ships in the ports of Eemshaven and Delfzijl GR in the first week of February. It turned out that no ship of African, Macaronesian, Mediterranean or Black Sea origin had been present. Ship-assistance is still a possibility and could not be excluded with certainty but there is no indication the bird travelled (a significant part of) the full distance on a ship.
