This isolated Caspian subspecies of Siberian Stonechat S maurus is a new taxon for the Dutch list. The bird belonged to the northern population of Caspian Stonechat, which is regarded as a separate subspecies S m hemprichii (separate from Armenian Stonechat S m variegatus (formerly S m armenicus)) by Svensson (2012) (cf Redactie Dutch Birding 2013).
