| opmerkingen | 3 October, Maasvlakte, Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, first-year, photographed (F van der Lans, T J C Luijendijk, B Gaxiola et al; van der Lans & Ebels 2009). The bird at Maasvlakte was the first to be discovered and observed in the field and thus not found in a ringer's net. Only c 25 birders managed to see this individual, which stayed in cover for most of the time. In addition, observation of the bird was seriously hampered by very windy conditions causing a local sand storm. Sadly, it disappeared from view c two hours after its discovery and before more people could connect with this extraordinary find. Annual Report 2009. | |
