| opmerkingen | 8 October, Polder de Biesbosch, Dordrecht, Zuid-Holland, juvenile, photographed (H Gebuis; Dutch Birding 31: 394, plate 544, 2009). The best year ever with eight birds, all flying past, and most seen at migration watch-points in spring. Two passing the famous spring migration watch-point Breskens within two days is unprecedented; since 2003, five have been recorded here. Another good watch-point in spring for this species is Eemshaven, Groningen, in the extreme north-east, with six records. The bird on 8 October was caption ed as 'first-year male' in Dutch Birding 31: 394, plate 544, 2009, but the CDNA was not fully convinced that this bird actually showed a pale iris and preferred to leave it unsexed.
